5. Marking Wax

In the next step, the cast is masked with aluminum foil to prevent wax from sticking to the dental stone. However, the orientation markings will not be visible through the opaque aluminum foil. Red wax drops were placed at the ends of the orientation markings. These wax drops were palpable through the tinfoil masking at the next step.
