7. Wax Baseplate

A wax baseplate was sculpted on the cast. This baseplate formed the foundation upon which the ear shape would be sculpted and adjusted on the patient. The back portion of the baseplate molded exactly to the patient's auricular defect site surface contour. The ability of the baseplate to key exactly into the patient's auricular trauma site allowed precise and stable positioning on the patient.
