Description:
The proper relationship (A) of the newly reconstructed auricle to the neo-canal in the patient with atresia and microtia reconstruction is similar to the normally developed ear, except that the reconstructed ear will have a larger external auditory meatus. The larger meatus is necessary to restore functional hearing and is considered aesthetically acceptable. A malpositioned ear (B) contains the meatus outside the conchal bowl.
