Description:
A seven week gestational age embryo. Fusion of the medial nasal prominence with the maxillary process forms the upper maxilla and the philtrum of the upper lip. Cross-section in bottom right shows the formation of turbinates and the separation of the nasal cavities by fusion of the nasal septum with the palatal shelves.
